DISCO becomes an Affiliated Member of the Climate Savers Computing Initiative, an Organization seeking to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions
DISCO has become an affiliated member of the Climate Savers Computing Initiative, an organization attempting to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by increasing the power efficiency of PCs, servers, and other computer equipment.
In response to a variety of environmental issues, including the pressing issue of global warming, DISCO has been involved in ongoing efforts to protect our environment while reducing the burden upon it, and to realize a sustainable society. Our membership in the Climate Savers Computing Initiative is one part of those efforts, and we will continue to advance our environmental activities even further in future.
“DISCO is making a meaningful commitment to CO2 reduction by joining the Climate Savers Computing Initiative and committing to energy efficient technology and practices,” said Arne Josefsberg, Microsoft's General Manager of Infrastructure Services and representative to the Climate Savers Computing Initiative's Board of Directors. “We are pleased to have DISCO join our efforts to reduce the energy consumption of IT equipment.”
| As a member of the Climate Savers Computing Initiative and in line with their principles, DISCO will: |

Employ power management settings for existing systems (PCs, etc.) |

Purchase PCs, servers, etc. that display superior power efficiency |
| In addition to observing these guidelines, we will also work to reduce the burden on the environment in the following ways: |

Introducing clean energy sources, such as solar energy |

Developing green procurement compliant products |
| • |
Enhancing our system of management of chemical substances |
| • |
Dismantling and recycling equipment at the end of its usable life |

Conducting in-house environmental seminars to increase environmental awareness among employees |

Attempting to achieve zero emissions at our head office and Hiroshima branch |
About the Climate Savers Computing Initiative
The Climate Savers Computing Initiative is a nonprofit group of eco-conscious consumers, businesses and conservation organizations dedicated to improving the power efficiency and reducing the energy consumption of computers. By producing and purchasing power-efficient products, our goal is to achieve a 50% reduction in power consumption by computers by 2010.
