Why did you choose to work at DISCO Hi-Tec America, Inc.?

Before joining DISCO America, I worked at a large motorcycle dealership as a parts manager, service advisor, and did some service work. I was introduced to DISCO by one of my old coworkers, who had started working there years before. I didn’t know anything about the semiconductor industry before joining, however I saw the Customer Engineer position as an opportunity to get into something bigger. As I worked, my interest in this industry grew over time, and I have become immersed in the cutting edge technology that DISCO works with.

What aspect of your current work is challenging, yet brings you fulfillment?

Pretty much everything, from working with customers and their new unique processes, to working with sales and our DISCO Corporation headquarters in Japan to bring everything together. When it does happen, it is a really good feeling to be part of the sales process that uniquely fits the customer’s needs.

What is "work" to you?

Working at DISCO does not actually feel like work. With so many different things to see and do (sales, admin, engineering tasks), there are so many fun and interesting challenges almost every day.

What does a normal work day look like for you?

I start my day off with going through my emails, responding to anything needed and reaching out to people to make sure things are good. Most days we have team meetings in the morning, where we discuss schedules and various escalations, and work on corporate activities. The rest of my day is filled with various meetings with customers and teams, as well as side projects in the office. On occasion, I will also do customer visits, going onsite to work on their machines.
Before, when I was still a traveling Customer Engineer, I was always traveling to various customers around the Central area depending on the jobs that needed to be done. These trips would range from one day to one week, or even longer.

What is DISCO Hi-Tec America, Inc.'s work environment like?

We have a very unique work environment at the Arizona office; everyone works really well together. Our office space allows us to have conversations with each other without leaving our desks! This actually is not limited to our office: even though we are growing rapidly, the whole DISCO America is very warm and welcoming, where everyone knows each other and are comfortable to approach one another. It is a really good feeling when the people you work with know things about you, like your family. I also really like the fact that our President and Vice President are so approachable; the open door culture that our upper management has makes DISCO America a very comfortable place to work.

How do you collaborate with other departments/teams?

I mostly use phone and email to communicate with other departments and teams. Depending on what I am working on, I collaborate with many different groups. For example, I used to collaborate with our Oregon office a lot, as I was going there to do trainings for newer hires, numerous different machine modifications, and more. Currently, I work a lot with DISCO America supervisors all over the US, collaborating on various supervisor tasks.
