Environmental Policy
DISCO (“DISCO” refers to DISCO CORPORATION and each company belonging to the DISCO Group; the same shall apply hereinafter) regards the conservation of the global environment as a key management priority, and aims to help realize a sustainable society through our business activities. This Environmental Policy sets forth DISCO’s fundamental approach to the environment in accordance with this commitment.
1. Basic Philosophy
DISCO is committed to identifying and reducing our environmental impact across the entire value chain, while also complying with all applicable environmental laws and regulations and ensuring the proper operation of our environmental management system.
2. Governance
DISCO operates our environmental management system under the supervision of the Board of Directors, and continues to review and improve said system through internal and external audits and other assessments. Additionally, DISCO provides ongoing education and training to employees, consults with stakeholders, and engages in the proper disclosure of information in relation to the environment to ensure transparency and build trust with society.
3. Targets
DISCO establishes targets toward the goal of reducing environmental impact, striving to not only achieve those targets but also continuously improve our environmental performance.
4. Climate Change
DISCO measures and manages greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, working toward medium- to long-term reductions aligned with international decarbonization goals. DISCO strives to not only reduce our company’s GHG emissions, such as through the promotion of energy efficiency and use of renewable energy, but also drive decarbonization across the value chain through our collaborations with our supply chain as well as our product and service offerings.
5. Resource Efficiency
DISCO recognizes that resources, such as water and raw materials, are finite, and promotes the efficient use of said resources. In order to minimize waste and use water more efficiently, DISCO thoroughly implements the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle (3Rs) and other such measures. With regards to water specifically, DISCO also strives to reduce water withdrawal and drainage through proper water management. Similarly, DISCO strives to reduce hazardous waste.
6. Chemical Management and Pollution Prevention
DISCO ensures that chemical substances are properly managed and also works to prevent the environmental pollution of the air, water, and soil. Additionally, DISCO engages in the phased reduction and elimination of highly hazardous substances, and evaluates safer alternatives, as precautions against environmental risks that may lead to environmental contamination or harm to health.
7. Biodiversity
DISCO assesses the impact of our business activities on the natural environment and ecosystems in order to minimize said impact and engage in the conservation of the surrounding environment.
8. Environmentally Conscious Products and Services
DISCO promotes the design and development of products and services that are environmentally conscious throughout the entire product life cycle. Through these efforts, DISCO contributes to reducing the environmental impact of our customers and society, as well as improving their resource efficiency.
9. Supply Chain Cooperation and Procurement
DISCO communicates expectations to suppliers with regards to complying with environmental laws and reducing environmental impact, and takes into account each supplier’s compliance status and environmental risk level before selecting a supplier. Additionally, DISCO strives to source raw materials that have lower environmental impact.
